Charles E. Salter, age 80, entered into rest on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born November 21, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama. He moved to the Newfane area when he was 18 years old and graduated from Newfane High School.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 until 1959. While in the Air Force he married Shirley A. Malloy on February 23, 1957 at St. Bridgets R.C. Church. He worked at Harrison Radiator as a senior engineer in Lockport retiring in 1992.
Charles was an avid golfer and member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his family and wintering in Florida where he and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed golf and bridge.
Surviving Charles is his loving wife Shirley and his sons Steven (Patricia) Salter of Ortonville, Michigan, Scott (Cheryl) Salter of Yorktown, Virginia, and Mark (Courtney) Salter of West Palm Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his son Michael Salter. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren Stephanie, Derek, McLean, Carley, Caitlin and Taylor.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from St. Brendan’s on the Lake (5922 Main Street, Olcott, NY 14126) at 11:00 am with Father Joseph Dumphrey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.
