Thomas W. Moore, known as Tom, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 26, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on June 23, 1945, in Bozeman, Montana, to the late Henry T. Moore and Regina G. (Kress) Moore.
He had a keen interest in genealogy and loved exploring his family roots on Ancestry.com. He could often be found enjoying a meal at Hardee’s or his bigg swigg from Huck’s and treasured his weekly lunch gatherings with "the boys." A lifelong fan of the University of Iowa, Tom lived and breathed Hawkeye sports, meticulously tracking stats and creating spreadsheets that reflected his analytical mind.
Tom had a generous spirit, quietly supporting causes he cared deeply about. He will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and the lasting impact he left on those who knew him.
Tom is survived by his loving children: Katie Moore; Sarah Chia (Billy); and Joshua Moore. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Eve-Marie Chia, Ashlyn Chia, Brian Chia, Jade Steele, Aiden Sullivan, Gavin Sullivan, and Tallulah Moore. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jerry Moore and Mike Moore; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Beverly Leslie.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Marge (Sample) Moore, who passed in 2012.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Tom's life at a visitation on Saturday, February 1, 2025, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Street 261, Newburgh, IN. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Cliff Herring, will follow at 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers, a cause close to Tom’s heart at www.t2t.org
