She was a member of Holy Rosary Church. Susan volunteered with the Vanderburgh County Humane Society and participated in the Honor Flight with her father. She was a devoted Purdue fan, enjoyed cooking, loved animals and was an avid recycler. Most of all, she loved her family.
She retired from Bristol Myers after 30 years of employment.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia (Mayer) Maier; maternal grandparents, Aloysius and Margaret Mayer and paternal grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Maier.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Thompson; daughter, Megan (Thompson) DeMartino (Tony); daughter, Samantha (Thompson) Oak (Jessica); father, Robert E. Maier; brother, Stan Maier; sister, Sandy (Maier) Waiz (Kirk), and nieces and nephews, Andrew, Justin, Krysti, Jennifer, Travis, Lindsey, Tyler, Jeremy, Joshua, John, Jacob, Joseph, Rebekah and Rachel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road, Evansville, IN, officiated by Fr. Bernie Etienne, with burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN.
