Stanley Ray Wilmes

Stanley "Stan" Ray Wilmes, age 71, of Boonville, passed away Monday morning, March 24, 2025, at his residence. He was born April 29, 1953, in Evansville, a son of the late Hubert Wilmes and Rita Gulledge.

Stan was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Wilmes (Joan); his mother, Rita Gulledge (Charlie); his sister, Sherry Parker (Larry); sister, Lynette Wilmes; brother in law, Timothy Ell; best friend, Mike Chapman and grandson, Matthew Tyler DeBow.

Stan loved to refurbish old cars, loved watching softball, and his family. He was a Local 20 sheet metal member for 36 years. He retired from Hi-Tech Sheet Metal.

Stan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Candace Wilmes; 3 children, Micha Warner (Carl), Jama DeBow (Derrick), David Wilmes (Arley); one sister, Debbie Ell; 3 brothers, Scott Wilmes (Johnna), Gary Gulledge (Phyllis), David Gulledge (Janna) and 6 grandchildren, Zachary "Zac" Warner, Hannah DeBow, Kayla DeBow, Andrew DeBow, Malcolm "Mac" Wilmes, and Millie Wilmes; high school best friends, Tana Chapman (Mike) and his best fur buddy, Cooper. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel 5333 State Road 261, with Derrick DeBow officiating. Family and friends may visit Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time. Private burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
