She was a woman of God and was committed to her faith in the Lord. She worked hard all of her life, even as a cook on the AEP Barge. She also worked for Res-Care, ARC and was a State of Indiana Service Coordinator with the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities. As an adult she attended USI and received a Bachelor of Science degree.
Shirley joined her son, Jon, who received his Heavenly Wings on September 16, 2020.
She is survived by her sister, Jan Walters Miller; daughter, Karen Stockwell; grandsons, Jarrod, Jason (Tina) and Joe; great-grandson, Ricky Lee; four half-sisters, Betty, Daphne, Emma Ruth and Rebecca, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Kate Graul for helping Shirley when the family was unable to be there.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261.
