Robert Schapker, born on June 1, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana. He lived a life filled with love, dedication, and kindness. He was the youngest in his family and is survived by his brothers, M. Jerry Schapker and Rick Schapker, as well as his half-brothers Christopher, Mitchell, and Brian Schapker. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Kathy Treadway, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned decades. Together, they built a loving family.
Robert became a father for the first time in December 1982 with the birth of his son, Nicholas Schapker. In February 1987, the family grew again as they welcomed another son, Jason Schapker. Robert’s greatest joy in life was being a devoted husband and father, and he cherished every moment spent with his family.
Robert had a loving but direct personality that endeared him to those around him. A lifelong member of the EMS community, he began his service shortly after graduating from Central High School in 1975. In the early 1990s, Robert became an Indiana Registered Paramedic, providing care through more than 20 years of service in various roles. He dedicated his life to helping others and made a lasting impact on his community.
Outside of his professional life, Robert was an avid fisherman, firearms collector, and skilled marksman. He also had a passion for baking, finding joy in creating delicious treats for his loved ones. Robert loved tools and radios and had a talent for fixing things, always ready to solve problems and lend a helping hand. A devoted dog lover, he shared his life with two cherished dogs, Penny and Lola. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the love of his family.
Robert Schapker passed away on January 8, 2025. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the countless lives he touched with his kind heart. Robert’s legacy lives on in the love and memories shared by his family and friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261.
