Robert Larry Rowland

the home of his sister in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born in Nashville, TN to the late

Robert E. and Lillian Brumlow Rowland.

Larry earned his business degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1964 and later his master’s degree in social work from the University of Louisville. He retired from Southwestern Indiana Mental Health Center, where he worked in the Princeton office and several Evansville offices. Soon after his retirement, Larry began to fulfill his lifelong wish to travel, including living six months a year in Holland with frequent trips to Italy, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, and Morocco. He and his partner, Jan, also hosted friends and family members to extended vacations at their homes in Newburgh and Veldhoven, Holland.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his life partner, Jan van den Heuvel.

Larry is survived by his sister, Sharon Harris (Dennis) of Murfreesboro, TN; niece,

Cassie Brandon (Josh Smotherman) of Dowelltown, TN; nephew, Joseph Brandon of

Christiana, TN; five great-nieces and great-nephews; and many special friends in his

adopted state of Indiana, which he considered his true home.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh, IN, officiated by Celebrant Carrie Hatchett.
