Dr. Phillip D. Watson, DVM/CFP, 82, of Newburgh, IN passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Evansville, IN. Phil was formerly from Ashmore, IL and Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Westfield, IL on February 17, 1936.
Phil was a hardworking family man, successful businessman, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the spirit of his family and had the most contagious laugh. He attended Eastern Illinois University. He graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. In retirement, Phil became a Certified Financial Planner which allowed him to further serve members of the community. He was a longtime member of Ashmore Presbyterian Church, a spiritual man, and was involved in many church activities. In his leisure time, Phil enjoyed singing, spending time on his family farms, and traveling to visit with family members. He was a member of Ashmore Masonic Lodge #390.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard.
Phil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce (Beckhart) Watson; children, John Watson (Sue), Karen Watson, Matthew “Mattito” Watson and Andrew Watson (Guro); grandchildren, Nicholas Neumann, Tayler Neumann, Audrey Watson, Jack Watson, Jakob Watson, Oskar Watson; and sister, Loretta Bechert.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. Friends may visit 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. For out of town guests, please use 5300 Bell Road, Newburgh, IN as the GPS address.
