He graduated from Jasper High School in 1969. Michael graduated from Vincennes University in 1971 with a degree in business. He worked in sales for Cooke Chevrolet and Kenny Kent used car sales. Michael retired from Kenny Kent in 2011 after receiving the transplant gift of a pancreas and kidney. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, Rich Elmer; sister, Patty Kemp.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patty Elmer of Newburgh, IN; daughter, Karen (Kevin) Seifert of Santa Clara, CA; sons, Jeffrey Elmer of Edinburg, IN and Steven (Heidi) Elmer of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Amelia and Miles Seifert; brothers, Bernard (Sara) Elmer of Lexington, KY and William (Carol) Elmer of Boonville, IN; sisters, Clara (Jim) Davis of Indianapolis, IN and Donna (Gary) Lamb of Madison, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh, IN. Burial will be at St John Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until mass time at the church.
