Mary Teresa Walters, 71, of Newburgh, IN, formerly of Freelandville, IN passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Princeton, IN on August 24, 1946 to the late John and Herlinda Weber.
She graduated from Ft. Branch High School and Scranton University School of Design. Mary was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she served in the Mature Adult Prayer Group and was a member of Newburgh Women’s Club. She volunteered at Newburgh Area Food Pantry and Mother Theresa’s Treasures and she was the Food Service Director at North Knox High School for 37 years until she retired. She enjoyed going to festivals and markets with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Walters, in 2013; and sister, Margie Martin.
She is survived by daughters, Julie Guy of Washington, IN, Teresa Sayre (Mike) of Liberty Township, OH; grandchildren, Shelby Stanley (Matt), Logan Guy, Olivia Sayre, Delaney Sayre; great-grandson, Easton Stanley; sisters, Dolores Ziliak, Kathy Martin; brother, George Weber; several nieces and nephews; as well as companion, Paul Stephens of Newburgh, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM CST, Monday, June 25, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiated by Fr. John Pfister with burial in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit 4-7 PM CST on Sunday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel.
