Allen was a member of Living Word Christian Church and worked with the Scott County School District #2, where he was an administrator. He was a Navy veteran and volunteered on the USS LST-325 giving tours, which he enjoyed. He was happy to be included on one of the Honor Flights to Washington, DC. Allen was a member of American Legion Kapperman Post #44. He enjoyed traveling, wood working and was an avid Abraham Lincoln historian, spending years on his research.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen Douglass of Newburgh; sons, Michael Douglass of Newburgh and Brian Douglass of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Ethan, Eli, Jing Jing, Isaac, Connor and Kyle; brothers, Gene and Scott Douglass, and sister-in-law, Janice Sawyer of Sebring, FL.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Tommy Epperson, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Kapperman Post #44 will perform military rites graveside. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
