Larry Joe McGehee, 75, of Newburgh passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021. He was born September 23, 1946 in Mc Leansboro, IL to the late James H. and Dorothy (Wells) McGehee.
He proudly served as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. Larry was an electrician and retired from IBEW Local 16 after 44 years. He was an avid drag racer with his son, Todd and grandson, Ryan and enjoyed watching & cheering for his grandson, Nathan play football for Castle High School.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou (Martin) McGehee; son, Todd McGehee (Jennifer); grandsons, Ryan and Nathan McGehee, and sisters, Phyllis Gunning (Rick) of Arizona and Shirley Willet (Herman) of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his brother, James E. McGehee.
A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin, with final resting place in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2021 and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
