He was an extremely devoted and very active lifelong member of St. Lucas UCC Church, where he had been President of the Church Council and a member of the Men’s Breakfast Group. Ken graduated from the University of Evansville, afterwards teaching at Newburgh Elementary School and later was principal at J.H. Castle Elementary School for 27 years. He was a coordinator with the Evansville Chapter of “SAWS”, an organization who builds home handicap ramps. He enjoyed model trains and was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts, attending all their games with his daughter.
Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia “Ginny” Kreke of Newburgh; son, Christopher Kreke of Fishers, IN; daughter, Kelley Gleason (Scott) of Carmel, IN; grandsons, Alexander, Andrew and Aedan Kreke of Fishers, IN; sister, Susan Patrick of Olympia, WA, and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Woodlands for their compassionate care of Ken.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. Lucas UCC Church 33 W. Virginia St. Evansville, IN 47710, officiated by Rev. Laura Callender and Rev. Lynn Martin. A reception will follow the service at the church.
