John A. Braeman

John Braeman, 89, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway. He was born on December 16, 1932 in New York City where he grew up in a working class neighborhood.

John graduated with a doctorate from Johns Hopkins in 1960. He was a Professor of History and authored several books. John greatly enjoyed reading, art, listening to music, and playing chess.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Saul and Goldie Braeman.

John is survived by his wife, Ann; children, David and Elizabeth; grandsons, Nicholas and Scott, and brother, Jerry.

The family would like to thank Brenda and Stephanie for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.

Memorial visitation will be Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261.
