Gretchen was born February 1, 1960 to Dr. and Mrs. Bernard Bosler (Lucille) in Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Tell City High School in 1978. She then went on to nursing school graduating from University of Evansville as a Registered Nurse in 1981. She started her career as a nurse at Welborn Hospital in the PICU and NICU, followed by a position as a NICU nurse with The Women’s Hospital at Deaconess Gateway until her death. She dedicated her life to caring for fragile tiny humans, and advocated for their safety as a registered car seat technician, as well as a part of the Neo-Natal Transport team.
While her professional life was a huge part of who Gretchen was, she also cared deeply for her family. She married Donald Lyons in 1982 and they had two children, Eric Lyons and Jon Lyons (Faith). She leaves behind two grandchildren, Elyse and Jonas Lyons, who were her pride and joy; a sister, Ann Raibley, and brother, Bruce Bosler (Sharon), as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her brother, John Bosler.
Gretchen was the fixer, the problem solver, and the gap-filler. She knew how to correct any wrong, and she was always looking for how she could help in any given situation. She will be deeply missed by anyone who had the privilege to know her.
