Glenda Ann Jackson was born on January 20, 1937, in Spencer County, Indiana. Glenda grew up in Chrisney, Indiana, graduating as valedictorian from Chrisney High School in 1954. She attended Bramwell Business School in Evansville and worked for Herron Food Brokers. In 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Ray Held. They resided in Tell City, Indiana where she worked at the Tell City Chair Company. When Charles was drafted into the Army, she moved back to her parents in Chrisney and worked for Lindsey Law Firm in Rockport, Indiana, Upon Charles's return from overseas deployment, they moved to Hatfield, Indiana, and raised their four children. In 1976, they built their dream home in the country where family and friends gathered for many celebrations over the years.
In 2009, they moved to Newburgh, Indiana, to enjoy their retirement. They joined the Epworth United Methodist Church, where they made many new friends. She and Charles enjoyed camping for over 40 years and visited the entire United States, including driving their fifth-wheel rig to Alaska. In 2022 after several years of challenging health issues, she gave up her beloved home and moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where she spent her last years closer to her children and made more new friends.
Glenda was an avid collector of many things, jewelry, baskets, and clothes to name a few, which allowed her to bless all her children and grandchildren with many mementos. Though family and innumerable close friends will greatly miss her, we know she is having a joyful reunion with her husband and her Savior.
