Donald R. Geske, 85, of Newburgh, passed away peacefully at Linda E. White Hospice House surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. He was born November 13, 1937 in Joliet, IL to the late Everett Herman and Helen B. (Wielgosz) Swatts.
Don attended Thomas A. Edison High School in Gary, IN from 1951-1955, and also attended Chapman College in 1975. He is a US Air Force veteran, honorably discharged as a SMSGT in 1975, after 20 years of service, and also worked as a Quality Control Engineer at the PG&E Diablo Canyon Nuclear Facility. He enjoyed fishing and music, and was a proud 4th degree member and Financial Secretary of the Knights of Columbus, Council 7131 in Cape Coral, for 7 years.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Dorothy “Dot” Geske, and his brother, Everett C. Geske.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary “Mel” Romelle Geske. They were best friends in High School band, and hadn’t seen each other in 52 years when they were reunited and married. Other survivors include children, Donald G. Geske, Larry D. (Frances) Geske, Jewel M. (Tim) Stoll, Beth (John) Phillips, Michael (Janet) Tillman, Sean (Stefanie) Tillman, Doug (Amanda) Tillman, Meg (Bobby) Waigand; along with 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Newburgh, Indiana. Final resting place will be at our nation's most hallowed ground, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
