She was a Rainbow Girl in the 1950’s and 60’s, and graduated from Central High School.
After graduation, she jumped over the fence at Graceland and stole Elvis Pressley’s newspaper. Darlene loved gardening in her yard and planting flower beds, and she also loved going to the beach. She enjoyed life, her “Ya Ya’s”, was very close to her sisters and was devoted to her family. She never met a stranger and would always welcome anyone with open arms.
Darlene was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Willis; sister, Jacki Willis Foley; adopted brother, Kevin Willis, and stepson, Matt Young.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul Young; daughters, Shellee Jarvis Cook and Sallee Jarvis; son, Wesley Jarvis (Tiffany Almond); stepdaughters, Suzette Humphrey and Kelli Lutterman; grandchildren, Garth Cook, Grant Cook, Jaycee Jarvis, Kace Jarvis, Colton Humphrey, Kaleigh Humphrey, Conner Purdue, Hunter Purdue and Loralee Purdue; siblings, Sheila Knight (Steve) and Kenny Saddler, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Brian Glick. Friends may visit 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2020 and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
