Carla L. Lee (Lewis), beloved daughter of Goldie Lorraine (Page) Lewis and Kenneth Ross Lewis, passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 24, 1952, in DuQuoin, Illinois, Carla lived a life full of love, devotion, and service to others.
A proud graduate of Castle High School in 1970, Carla was a member of the prom court, showcasing her grace and charm. She later married the love of her life, Charlie Lee, with whom she shared many wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Her life was dedicated to caregiving and community service, enriching the lives of countless individuals. Carla volunteered her time at church through ministries such as nursing home outreach, and Vacation Bible School. She participated in Angel Tree Ministries. She was known for lending a helping hand to friends and family with every imaginable project, no matter how challenging.
Carla was a woman of many talents. She worked as a hairdresser at Wilkins Hair Fashions in Newburgh and co-owned Bouquets of Newburgh and had an LPN degree. Beyond her professional life, Carla found joy in hobbies like sewing stuffed bears, refinishing furniture, and treasure hunting at garage sales and thrift shops—a passion that often led her to “just take a look” when she was driving past. Her favorite dining spots were Texas Roadhouse, Chinese restaurants and Cracker Barrel.
Carla had a special place in her heart for Christmas, celebrating the season with unmatched enthusiasm and many, many decorations (especially Santas).
Carla’s life was a shining example of kindness, creativity, and a devotion to the people around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her generosity and warmth.
