I didn’t know Billy well, but knew enough about him as being the older brother of Johnny Paulson, who I went to school with, along with my domestic partner, Eddie Kort. The Paulson boys were apparently from a lovely family, and it appears that Billy lived a full life. I was saddened to learn of Billy’s passing. May he rest peacefully. 

I am saddened to hear of Billy's passing. His old friend Albert saw me at Whole foods  in LA today and broke the news. I cried. Mostly because we lost contact so many years ago.                                                               Billy and I met at Stella Adler in 1977. We were in class together and became good friends. We lived nearby and one very snowy night he called and said get dressed warm w/ snow boots and lets play in the lily white snow. The stars were shinning and the moon was full. Meet me on Riverside and 78th  he said . It was halfway. I'll never forget that night. No cars just the stars and Billy. He loved anything that he could make dramatic. He had a beautiful smile and eyes that lit up when he talked about things he loved. Like acting.                                                                                                                           I was blessed during that time to have auditioned many times for the Raging Bull.  Billy was my coach the whole time and did an amazing job. He even went to my last audition with me and waited. I'll never forget his commitment to me and to the "work"                                                                                             I lost contact sadly very long ago, but it felt like yesterday when I heard the news. I cried  and still am. I'm  disappointed with myself that we never got the chance to reconnect or say goodbye. Interesting how the loss of someone brings back all the memories you shared.                                                                                                                               I love you Billy and will never forget the passion you sucked out of the marrow. RIP my dear friend. I'll see ya on the other side. 

I knew Billy for over four decades; he was my downstairs neighbor at 646 West End Ave.  He taught me how to play tennis two decades ago.   I listened to his audition preps.  We shopped at Fairway.  We joyfully watched the Yankees lose to Boston in the World Series.   Bill was saddened to hear of the death of my and his former neighbor Pete Smith Jan 15, 2018.  When he called to discuss it,  I had just lost my mother and I had to cut him off because I was swept up in that.  Then I heard recently he'd lost his mother and was out of town. I thought I'd give it some time and call when he was presumedly back to offer my condolences. I never did make that phone call and I will regret it until the day I leave this earth. Rest in peace, Billy.   You'll always be on my mind especially when I hit the tennis courts.  Tim

There was Billy, Henry and Dougy.  Three inseperable friends.  From about 13 to 23. Bill Paulson, Henry Salamon and Douglas Satkofsky.  There was an unbreakable bond between us.  
Unfortunately, this is the only photo I could find of Bill. It is he and I (Henry) in France.  We share the same birthday, St. Patty's Day 1954 and thought that fate brought us together for a deep and loving friendship. 
Bill was exciting and excitable, smart and quick witted. He was someone I could count on.  In those heady, testosterone charged, young days Bill thought he could do everything... and he certainly tried... for good or for bad.  But he wasn't alone.  He found his way in to the hearts of others and they went with him... for good or for bad.  He was loved and loving.  When you knew him, you knew him well. His family and friends could only love him. And those who met Bill for the first time, would surely remember him.  Always the actor, he loved to perform, to be funny, to be dramatic, to be entertaining.  
There are relatively few people in my life that I think about regularly, even during absence, Billy is one of them.  Our loss is great.  My condolences to the family.

Billy was my friend and my first boyfriend. We were in fifth grade. Although we hadn't seen each other in years we would be friends forever. Billy was smart, sweet, funny and very handsome. I will always love him.

I spent so much time at the Paulson home since I was so close to Julia. I always admired Billy. He was handsome funny, talented, silly and a good big brother.. I will cherish last summer when we got to spend some time catching up, it is a time I won't ever forget. May you rest in everlasting peace Billy..

Even though it's been many many years since we last saw each other I remember the fun times when we played stickball in Le Havre and when we would hit a home run we would shout "Bye Bye Dolly Gray" in reference to what Ralph Kiner would shout during Mets telecasts...I remember us being handball champs during 6th grade in PS 193....Some great memories....from a great guy...RIP my friend

Farwell to a wild and crazy guy. Some of us loved to live on the edge, we weren't satisfied with normal, we needed to be a bit outrageous and Billy was one of us. My sincere condolences to the Paulson family.

Over the last 40 years or so living on the Upper West Side ,we ran into each semi regularly  Every  time we did it was like no time passed at all . It was always natural and easy when we ran into each other on the street in the supermarket, wherever. I don't think we ever talked less than an hour. We formed a bond based on age and experience, and I always looked forward to the next time we ran into each other
