Dr. William Kennedy Main was born on December 19, 1959, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to William Craddock Main and Nell Chaney Dalton. He attended Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY, and later attended both college and medical school at the University of Kentucky, graduating in 1981 and 1985, respectively. After medical school, he moved to New York and established his own solo Orthopedic Spine Surgery practice, where he worked for over 30 years.
Dr. Main was a loving father and an incomparable physician who was held in the highest regard by all. He was brilliant, caring, charismatic, and endlessly curious. He loved to read and write and had an incredible imagination and thirst for knowledge. He was an avid fan of Disney and Kentucky basketball. His patients loved him dearly and saw him as much more than just their doctor, always returning to express fondness and gratitude for his effect on their lives. His family and friends loved (and will always love) him more than he could ever know and will miss him very dearly. He was always doing something, but he always had time for you.
He passed away on September 4, 2022, of natural causes at his home. He is survived and loved by his three daughters, Paloma Cristina Main, Sonia Alicia Main, and Morgan Elizabeth Main, as well as his siblings, Charles Dalton Main, John Bradley Main, and Amanda Main Ferguson.
A memorial service will be held in Manhattan at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:30 AM.
