She was born to Pelagio and Tomasa Darauay on September 4, 1955. After graduating from nursing school in 1979, Teresita pursued her dreams to be a registered nurse that eventually led her to Saudi Arabia.
After several years practicing as an RN in the Middle East, in 1990 she moved to NYC and blessed the Metropolitan Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 34 years of dedicated service.
Teresita, endearingly nicknamed “Ayi” by her family and “Tess” by her friends and colleagues, was a beautiful light in our world.
Beyond being highly intelligent, she was a pillar of strength, with an incredibly generous heart, a fantastic sense of humour, a quick wit, and always with a ready and gorgeous smile. Her family and friends were of utmost importance. A world traveller, she recently came to love cooking.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Susan G. Komen organization or to the March of Dimes on her behalf.
A memorial service for Teresita will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 230 East 90th Street, New York, NY 10128.
