Ronald Mackintosh

Ronald McKinley Mackintosh, 80, of New York, NY died on February 23, 2023. Ronald was born in Hollywood, CA to Ian Mackintosh and Jeanne Cooper. Ronald, known to his family and friends as Ron or Ronnie, moved from California to New York City when he was 20, attended The New School and earned his PhD in Experimental Psychology.

Ron worked as a research scientist in many capacities during his 40+ year tenure at The Rockefeller University. His passion for science and research was evident to anyone who knew him. His personal passions included consciousness, the brain, and evolution.

Ron is predeceased by his parents and his half-brother Kevin Mackintosh. He is survived by his son Gregory Mackintosh and his wife Brooke and their children Thomas, Charles and Joseph of Carlisle, MA. He is also survived by his domestic partner of 12 years Arlene Meritz of New York, NY, and his former wife Adele Fekete Mackintosh of New York, NY. Ron’s extended family includes his half-sister Catherine Nash and family of Bend, OR, half-sister Shelley Lockovich and family of Placentia, CA, half-brother Walter Browne and family of Goleta, CA and Dana Mackintosh, wife of the late Kevin Mackintosh and their family of Torrance, CA. A private gathering will be held at a future date.
