She was a graduate of Nightingale-Bamford School and attended Finch College. She was the beloved widow of Bryson Richard Van Buskirk Kalt and granddaughter of the renowned natural history artist, Charles R. Knight, whose work is carried in more than 30 museums including the American Museum of Natural History and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
For much of her life Rhoda promoted the legacy of Charles R. Knight with museums, and through books, tours, film, and documentaries. Rhoda was an entrepreneur and free and giant spirit. She loved the arts of all kinds and travel. She was passionate about all animals and she loved the Catholic Church and her parish, St. Ignatius. She originated and led St. Ignatius Loyola's famous annual antique show.
Rhoda is survived by her brother Dr. R. Knight Steel, two nieces, 3 grand-nieces, 1 grand-nephew, her beloved daughter Melissa Knight Hardcastle Kalt and three adorable grandsons.
