Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle Raymond Youssefyeh passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Raymond immigrated to the United States from Iran at the age of 18 with little more than the clothes on his back. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Iowa. Over a long career as a chemistry professor and pharmaceutical researcher, he taught at California Institute of Technology and The Weizmann Institute and worked at Merck, Roche, and Revlon, publishing more than one hundred patents and academic publications. He called Iran, Israel, and several of the United States home throughout his life.
As well as an accomplished chemist and world traveler, Raymond was an observant Jew and a dedicated family man. Upon returning to Iran he met his devoted wife Rina, who has stood by his side for six decades through sickness and health. He bought warmth, compassion, generosity and a smile to everyone he met. He is loved and admired by many. He took great care and pride in raising his son Yoram and daughter Ronit and his grandchildren Noam, Yuval, Yael, Toren, Matan, and Liat. His family will cherish his memory and miss him dearly.
