Raymond F. Condon, 78, of Southport, CT, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with ALS. Ray was born in New York City and grew up in Massapequa, New York. He was a proud alumnus of Chaminade High School, St. John’s, and Fordham University.
Ray had a 45-year career on Wall Street where he specialized in convertible and high yield securities, most recently at Shenkman Capital Management where he worked for 18 years as Principal, Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager.
Ray had a lifelong love of sports – particularly Rugby. After joining the New York Athletic Club in 1971, he joined the newly formed rugby team in 1973 and played for over 30 years. He served as Captain, Chairman, and Coach and was elected to the NYAC Rugby Hall of Fame. Ray served on the boards of the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation and Caroline House, a center for disadvantaged women and their children in Bridgeport.
Ray is survived by his wife Claire; his daughter, Caitlin; his two sisters, Patricia and Penny; his three brothers, Tom, Jack, Owen; and his ten nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at Frank E. Campbell the Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 26 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Church of our Savior on Saturday, May 27 at 10am with a burial following at St. Charles cemetery in Farmingdale, LI.
