Myrna L. Rubin died May 22 at the age of 88. A devoted native of Brooklyn and a passionate New Yorker, she devoted her life to her family, her friends and her career.
At work, she was a leading figure in New York State's efforts to fulfill the vision for deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill provided by President Kennedy shortly before his assassination, a vision that sadly has since been gutted by budget cuts and public apathy. Myrna marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1963 in the March on Washington, and pursued fair housing enforcement as a volunteer with the National Urban League.
She was a loving spouse to Bob Rubin, 1932-2018, a pioneering television producer, and a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. And she loved folk music!
