Larry Rice (1940-2024), passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 (the same date his father passed away in 1982). Born to Seki and Irving Rice as an only child, he was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Midwood High School. After graduating from Tulane, “the Harvard of the South,” he went to law school for one day before dropping out and venturing out in a career on Wall Street. The stock market was one of his true loves and although he reluctantly retired in December 2023 after a 58 year career in finance, he continued to watch CNBC and Bloomberg religiously. Larry loved the outdoors and could most days be found playing tennis, swimming or kayaking in the bay in Sag Harbor. He was an avid shopper, who loved a sale and could never get enough Ralph Lauren cable knit sweaters.
Larry will be sorely missed and dearly remembered by his family, and his friends who were like family. He is survived by his two children, Jaclyn Rice Nelson and Ian Rice; by his son-in-law and daughter-in law, Adam Nelson and Jackie Rice; and his grandkids, Jake and Lily Nelson. A shiva will be held on the Upper West Side on Sunday, March 24 from 4-7pm. The burial will take place at Wellwood Cemetery in Babylon, New York.
Please contact the family directly for shiva or donation details.
