John- you are my cousin but I'm sad to say that I had not seen you since you were about eight years old. I remember your voice and how you, Dave, and Stephan loved Atari. You were the sweetest, funniest, cutest, little cousin ever. Hugs and kisses until I know you again. Love, Becca

I spent many hours playing with you and your brothers when you were very little. Your parents generously welcomed me weekend after weekend both in NJ and NY. You were the sweetest baby and along with your brothers so full of life and energy and intelligence and fun. One of the highlights of my teenage years was being part of your family. I see by these pictures and notes that you turned out to be a lovely man. May your spirit be free and your soul at peace. May your father and your brothers be soothed by their great love for you.

The Olmsted kids babysat for you in New Jersey  and New York...i'm sure you remember the summer of 1980 on 93rd St...You were both crazy and energetic but deeply sweet.  I remember once I took you to Fire Island and you both raced each other on the beach....This is very very sad news.

I hadn't seen Jon in many years ... But having known him as a child and young man, having spent family vacations with him and the family, I can say without doubt he was one of the nicest, kindest souls you would have ever met.  Taken way too soon, you will be missed but not forgotten.  God bless.

When someone passes they always say, " he was a good man or a great person" out of respect for that person not being there and it's not always true. In Jon's case, it is 120% true. I've known a lot of people in my travels and this man, this kid,this brother, this son was truly kind, thoughtful, caring and I cannot forget funny. I didn't see jon as much as I did years ago but the memories we all made together are present in almost every day of my life and will be there until I take my final breath. Whether I'm sitting watching a politician speak and say to myself " that guy is honest" or driving in Northern jersey and remembering our arguments that Waterbury,Ct does not represent my CT nor does Elizabeth,NJ represent his beautiful Ridgewood. There are hundreds of these little memories that pervade my daily life that I will cherish. Jon actually helped me learn how to drive stick shift in college, when I bought a jeep not knowing how to drive stick he saved me from pushing the thing into a river out of frustration. I could go on and on but one last thing I want to share is one of the most special. If you knew Jon, you ended up with a whole new family, for better or worse you became a part of his Jersey family. And I was grateful to make memories with these guys as well. Jon always talked about these guys , Corvenetti, Ez, Mers , zaky, Clancy on and on and on. They immediately became brothers once u met them and shared a beer with them. And of course his two beloved bros Dave and Steph. Jon loved u guys without equal. I feel in my heart Jon's memory is alive and well in the bond we all share which is knowing and loving him. We are tied to each other through him. I know my post was long but it barely scratches the surface. I will continue to think of jon daily both by choice and because he is woven into my personality and I'll do what Dave ross asked in the days following Jon's passing. I'll hold my friends and loved ones a little closer and continue to do the right by people. It's the way to honor Jon cause that's what he did. Miss you Jon... My friend and brother.   Thanks for all the years of good times as Marv and Frah.  We were blessed to have you with us for 39 years.  Til we meet again buddy...

Jon will always be my sweet, funny brother-in-law who made me laugh when he called me Snowflake. He will always be in my heart and on my mind through every phase of life together with Dave and the Ross family. I am proud to be Jon's sister.

I miss you every second of every day and know that each and every day for the rest of my life will remember how lucky I was to have you as my twin brother. You did so much for me and so many others without asking or expecting anything in return. You were always smiling, happy and will forever be known as the nicest person I and many others have ever met. I miss you and love you more than any words could ever express. We are forever a part of each other. No one can ever take that away from us.

Dear Jon -- too soon, too sad.  I will remember always your infectious smile and sense of humor, and your good nature.  So "gedoudda town!" I'll miss you, Jon.  We all will. Rest in peace. Spenser, Pat, David and Stephan - my heart aches with you.

Gone too soon. A definite lesson for life. Live life to the fullest! I wish we had spent more time together in our adult years! Lots of wonderful memories with Florida visits and the time I spent taking care of the three Ross boys in Manhattan while their folks were in California. Much love to all and I am grateful Jon's Aunt Flo and his mom, my Aunt Bernadette, have their newest Angel to hold and love once again. Gone too soon.

The last time I saw Jon was at my dad's 70th birthday. Jon sat next to my husband at dinner. They had only met once or twice before. When we walked home that night my husband said, "I love your cousin, Jon." Everyone always loved Jon but I wanted to know why in particular he loved Jon. He said, "He's just so cool, so real. There's nothing phony or pretentious about him. He's the nicest guy. I mean, I really love him." That was the kind of impression Jon made when you were lucky enough to sit beside him at a table.

My heart goes out to you all.  I did not have the pleasure of knowing John well, but from the Ross' I do know, and the heartbreak that surrounds this loss, I am certain he was a wonderful soul.  I keep you in my thoughts...  Amanda
