Roth, John J.-Loving husband of the late Mary (Henry), Father of the late Elizabeth Danbeck (Robert), and surviving children Jane, John (Andrea), James (Frances), Mary Karl (Billy Bob), Kathryn Lilly (Kevin), Patricia, Margaret Depp (Oren Richard); PopPop to 16 cherished grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and Uncle “Kiffee” to his special niece and companion Regina Henry as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He passed away at home, in peace and grace.
Born on the West Side in 1918, John graduated from Manhattan College in 1940, served as Lt. in the U.S. Navy in WWII, including the D-Day landings, and went on to serve as a Special Agent of the FBI from 1947 – 1978. He was a loyal supporter St. Veronica’s in Greenwich Village and of Immaculate Conception Church where he served as a trustee, President of the Parish Council and lector until his late 80’s. Devoted to his God, his family and his country, he will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Friends may call at Andrett Funeral Home, 353 Second Ave @ 21st St. on Monday & Tuesday 2-5 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church 414 E 14th St. on Wednesday 11am. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
