John J. Miceli passed away peacefully on November 29 at his home in Greenwich Village. He is survived by his brothers Vincent and William, William’s wife Mary Beth, their sons William Vincent Jr, his wife Jade and Mark John and his wife Marissa and their son, Gino.
John was born to John and Mary Miceli on September 2, 1939 in New York City.
He graduated from Newtown High School, Class of 1956 and went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree at Queens College in 1961. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserve. He succeeded in the advertising business serving at two world renowned companies, J. Walter Thompson and Wells, Rich, Greene where he excelled as their media buyer. After leaving Madison Avenue, he took his talent to New York Magazine until retiring at the age of 65.
John adored his family and was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and cousin. He was predeceased by his cousin, Pamela Richards, who he was particularly close to and oversaw her care during her illness. John made many loving friends in his life, from his childhood through to this last year with his devoted caregivers.
He enjoyed traveling, music, gardening, cooking, and fine dining. His album collection was the envy of many, he was the call to make looking for the finest restaurant, most perfect wine, best florist or the elusive word for the NY Times Crossword. He was spiritual and if he said “I’ll say a prayer” to someone in need of one-you can be sure, John really would. He was the warmest, kindest, smartest person to have in your world and was loved by all.
