In 1993, Joann, along with Safe Horizon opened a fully-owned and operated domestic violence shelter which was named Lang House in honor of Joann and Todd Lang. Joann has been an active board member since 1997 and was honored with Lifetime of Service Awards from Safe Horizon on two occasions. She also served on the Board of The Jewish Home and Hospital for 30 years and was a member of the Resident Care Committee.
