Harold was born in Newark, New Jersey, on June 22, 1933, to parents Samuel and Manya. A diligent and athletic student, he graduated from Weequahic High School going on to study architecture at Syracuse University where he met his future wife, Gail Rudder, with whom he had four children, Debra, Ives, Stacey and Penelope.
As a young architect, he worked on Lincoln Center, ultimately growing his architecture/real estate business in New Jersey and New York, which he ran until his death.
He enjoyed the opera as well as playing basketball and tennis in Central Park, and skiing in Aspen. He was a prolific artist, painting New York City skylines and abstracts, and taking classes at the Art Students League of New York.
Harold was a larger than life character, usually sporting a fishing vest full of pens, pencils and his corncob pipe, who enjoyed regaling friends and acquaintances with the latest news of his children and grandchildren.
His work lives on in his buildings and in the thousands of drawings and paintings that attest to his creative spirit. Harold will be deeply missed by his brother Ira; his children and their spouses, Pam, Jim and Andy; and his grandchildren Jessica, Spencer, Persy, Hudson, Dashiell, and Truly.
