Gloria Fern Siegel died on February 25th at 88 years old after battling lung cancer for the past year. She is survived by the family she fiercely loved—her husband of 60 years, Alan Siegel, her daughter Stacey Siegel and husband Michael Bloom, and her grandchildren Ruby and Leo Bloom. She will be remembered for her unbridled generosity, sense of humor, creativity, integrity, business savvy, dedication to fashion, Broadway musicals, and love of NYC.
Gloria grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended Colorado and Denver Universities where she was inspired by a Shakespeare Professor to think in the abstract and open her mind to fresh perspectives. After college, Gloria worked as a stewardess for Aer Lingus Airlines. She moved to NYC in 1959 and started working as Robert Evans’ assistant at Evan Picone, Little Foxes International (Fox Run), and Martin Goodman Theatrical Agency. After moving to NYC, Gloria studied creative writing at The New School for Social Research.
When her husband began to build his firm, Siegel+Gale, Gloria joined him there in 1971, beginning a distinguished career that included marketing, naming, and writing assignments for a wide variety of global clients including Citicorp/Citibank, BP, Historic Hudson Valley, Hanes, Prudential, Komatsu-Zenoah, USX, Xerox, Kmart, American Express, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Johnson & Johnson, MasterCard, and Comcast, whose Xfinity name she helped create.
Memorial services will be held at 11AM on Friday, March 1st at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue, New York,
