Ellen Davidman Yuder, of Atlantic Beach, NY.--mother, grandmother, aunt, and devoted friend--passed away on February 2, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by her children at the age of 85. Daughter of the late Larry and Edna Davidman of Forest Hills, she was a graduate of Kew-Forest School and Finch College, married Paul Yuder in 1959 and was widowed in 1986. She was a force of nature that faced the challenges of her life with an inexhaustible strength that endured to the end. She took over her husband’s business as President of Textile Fabric Associates after his death, which thrived under her guidance, but her success in business never came at the expense of her family. She was beloved mother to Robin (David), Andrew (Kyle) and John (Julie) but most proud of her grandchildren Jake, Derek, Erin and Matthew.
Whether holding court in the sands of Atlantic Beach or tearing into a lobster at Jordan’s, she never let a moment pass without “advice” to not just her friends and family, but even complete strangers including but not limited to: restaurant managers, aestheticians, her children’s work colleagues, and even her accountant, all eventually becoming valued friends. For those of us that remain, in all aspects of life--both the minutiae and the momentous--the silence of her absence will be deafening. She moved through life with a robustness of purpose and leaves a legacy of success through tenacity, serving as an example to anyone that knew her.
A funeral service for Ellen will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street, New York, NY 10023.
