It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Elizabeth Ann Clarke, affectionately known as Aunt Betty, who peacefully departed to heaven in her sleep on April 10, 2024.
Betty Clarke's journey began in Jackson Heights, where she spent her childhood and early teenage years.
Betty graduated from Thorpe Secretarial School and then embarked on her professional career at the Institute of Chemical Engineers in New York City, demonstrating remarkable talent at a young age. Throughout her career, Betty contributed significantly to various projects across New York City, notably excelling at Swanke Hayden Connell Architects. Betty's dedication was evident in her pivotal and meticulous work on the construction of the American Express Tower and the restoration of The Statue of Liberty.
Throughout her years she affectionately doted on her many nieces and nephews and exhibited a profound compassion for children in need, regularly expressing her support through donations of toys and gifts to the Children’s Hospital in New York City.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary, as well as her siblings Edward, Patrick, Peter, Theresa, John, and Michael. Betty will be remembered fondly for her gentle nature, generous spirit, keen sense of humor, and above all, her unwavering zest for life.
