Edward Ray Cobb, of Manhattan and Kerhonkson, New York, died suddenly of a heart attack on April 15, 2011, at the age of 53. Eddie was the loving partner for 29½ years and spouse for 2½ years of David Glaser. Born in Reidsville, North Carolina, he was the son of Robert Edward Cobb and the late Mary Elizabeth Cobb. An actor, singer, costume and interior designer, Eddie worked in theatre, cabaret and film. He appeared in many plays in New York and throughout the country, including the original New York casts of Robert Patrick's Untold Decades, and John Glines' On Tina Tuna Walk and Body and Soul. He received the Robby Award as Best Actor in a Comedy for his performance in the Los Angeles production of On Tina Tuna Walk. A supporter of numerous charities and an outspoken advocate of human rights causes, Eddie particularly believed in the mentoring of gay and transgender youth. He touched the lives of all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Human Rights Campaign or the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
