Edith Betti Rosenbaum passed away on September 20, 2020 at the age of 95. She was born in Luneburg, Germany on June 28, 1925 to Harry and Else Schickler. Edith along with her parents and younger sister, Margo, found safe haven in New York City after fleeing the Nazis in 1939 .
Together with her husband Werner, Edith raised two daughters, Jane and Susan and then became a fully tenured teacher of English as a Second Language at George Washington High School; the same school where she learned to speak English. When she retired, Edith volunteered for 10 years as one of the original educators and exhibit contributors at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
Edith lived a full, long, and productive life and will be deeply missed by her loving children, grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, neighbors, students and her many friends and admirers living near and far. May her memory be a blessing.
