Carmen Iris Rodriguez died at the age of 84 on April 6, 2023 in Bronx, NY after many years with Alzheimer’s disease.
Carmen, also known as “Molly”, was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico to mother Luisa Rotger and father Juan Melendez. In 1946, she immigrated to the United States with her mother and sister to join their father.
Carmen and her former husband, Alfonso Rodriguez, Jr., had two children (Eileen and David). She lovingly raised them in Manhattan and played an active role in their lives through volunteering as President of the PTA and supporting their endeavors in swimming and music. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life.
Carmen worked in accounting for the Millstein Construction Company for over 20 years; retiring in the summer of 2001. Carmen loved to travel and vacationed throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Manhattan always topped her favorite placed to explore; and, was the city she called home for 77 years.
She is survived by her brother Raul Melendez, son David Rodriguez, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Rodriguez, son-in-law David Campbell, her beloved granddaughters: Anna Rodriguez and Eleanor Rodriguez, nieces, nephews, friends and best friend Mercedes Yordan.
Her daughter Eileen Campbell and her sister Ruth Krasztek predecease Carmen.
