Burton Paul Pollack, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed to the arms of the Lord peacefully on June 5, 2023. He was born August 9, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Albert and Rae (Gutterman) Pollack. He graduated Samuel J. Tilden High School class of ’53, before entering the US Army, trained at Fort Dix then served in the Nike Missile Corp. He went on to NYU and Parsons School of Design to earn his BA in Fine Arts. He began his lifelong career in Publishing at McGraw Hill in Manhattan before moving upstate. Burton went on to become Art Director of Patient Care Magazine in Darien, CT., where he met his future wife, Elizabeth.
Burton moved to Roosevelt Island in 1982 and married Elizabeth in 1986. Burton finished his career as vice president of Barnum Communications and sat on the Board of Directors. Burton earned many accolades and awards for his design artwork. He also designed the home he had built at Sterling Forest in Tuxedo, NY.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Elizabeth (Cash) Pollack of Riverdale, NY, and his children: Terry Pollack and Marie Parmentier of Bazugues, France, David Pollack and Kathleen Nykolyn of Cross River, NY, Julie and Daniel Biron of Bethlehem, CT as well as his nephew Jonathon Pollack. Burt loved and was extremely proud of his 6 grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandra, Zoe, Erin, Noah, and Jonah. He was so very proud of his beautiful great grand-daughter Reese. He was predeceased by his brother Joel Pollack and his nephew Jonas Pollack. He leaves behind his many cousins and their families. The family would like to thank Gary Gutterman, Jane Gutterman and Judy Sgammato for all their help and support over this past year.
A service is planned for 10:30 am on Sunday June 11, 2023, at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street, New York, NY. A memorial service and interment follow at 1:00 pm at the New Montefiore Jewish Cemetery, Pine Lawn, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
