It is with immense sadness we share that Aparna Autumn Roppel, beloved and cherished daughter of Mark Roppel and Nurelene Sahadat, passed away Nov. 17, 2024 at the tender age of 14, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth and inspiration. Aparna is survived by her younger brother Adyan Mark with whom she shared an unbreakable bond of love and admiration. She was deeply loved by her grandfather in New York, her Nana and grandfather in Canada, seven cousins, five aunts and four uncles. Aparna was predeceased by her beloved Grandma whose love and guidance shaped much of Aparna's childhood.
Aparna was a vibrant and adventurous spirit; an avid skier who found joy and freedom on the slopes. Her passions extended far and wide. She had a deep love for animals, a curiosity for history and travel, and a profound connection to music and nature. A voracious reader, Aparna could lose herself in the world of the Lord of the Rings, Dune, Crime and Punishment or the adventures of Jack Aubrey, engaging those around her in thoughtful and spirited discussion. Full of life and charm, Aparna had a magnetic personality that lit up any room. She loved to make others laugh and smile, bringing joy to everyone around. She was a kind and loving child, who would befriend anyone, especially those in need. Aparna was a dedicated eighth-grade student at Marymount School in Manhattan. She was a member of Student Council as well as active in school music and theater programs where her creativity and enthusiasm shone.
Join us in celebrating Aparna's short but wonderful life on Saturday Nov. 23 as her family, friends, and community come together to honor her memory and the joy she brought to their lives. A public gathering for Aparna will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
