Stephen was born in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Henry Mathew and Julia Shelton. He was a proud Christian and his faith was the most important thing to him. He had to read from his bible every morning. He served time as a United States Marine. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. He was a kid at heart, enjoying video games and comic books; he even made his own comics. He will be remembered by his goofy nature, he loved to cut up and was always making people laugh. Stephen was a bright light in his family’s lives and will be greatly missed.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Hensley Shelton, of New Tazewell, TN.
His son, Stephen Matthew Palmer Shelton and fiancé Mary Chasteen of Canton, IL.
Daughters; Austayia Martell of New Albany, IN and Karessa (Charles) Pace of New Tazewell, TN.
Five grandchildren; Abigail and Blake Shelton of IN; Summer and Brianna Clem and Layla Pace of New Tazewell, TN.
Siblings; George (Sandy) Shelton of FL; Phillip (Linda) Shelton of IN; Vicki Marsh of IN; and Leslie (Tom) Zimmerman of IN.
As well as his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will have a memorial service in Frankfort, IN at a later date.
