Roger E. “Red” Brooks age 52 of Tazewell, Tennessee born December 1, 1958 and passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Knoxville on Friday, December 10, 2010 surrounded by his family and friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Tazewell. He graduated in 1980 with high honors from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Animal Science. He was a life-long cattleman, life-long member of the American Hereford Association, and respected member of the pure bred cattle industry. He was loved by all who knew him. True to Red’s vibrant spirit and generosity, he will be an organ donor to other families. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chloe and Lassie Brooks; Thomas and Sarah Greene, and special nephew, Brian McClure.

He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins as well as his many friends and co-workers from the cattle business.
Family will receive friends from 4-8PM Tuesday Dec. 14, 2010, at Dogwood Heights Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 8:oo PM at the Dogwood Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Noe and Rev. Roger Hansard officiating. Singer will be Dr. Richard Clark. Graveside service will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 at 12:00PM at the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers are Taylor Alred, Brent Toadvine, Travis Brown, Jamie Roberts, Shawn Light, Fred England, Ricky Todd Lefevers, Josh Cabe. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Hederick, Roland Starnes, Jack Barnard, Rob Helms, Randall Meyers,Jr., Brian Cole, Gary Rowe, Joe Parido, Kyle Norris, Bill Martin, Tom Boatman, Dave Cagle, Dave Roberts, Jarrod Payne, Kevin Gallagher, Steve Lee, Wallace Lee, Uncles and Cousins. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to give to Red’s favorite charities such as Knox Area Rescue Ministries and Medic Regional Blood Center.
