Judy K. Hurst

Judy Kay Whitaker Hurst, age 59, of Tazewell, Tn. went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by loved ones, both friends and family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was saved at an early age and a longtime member of Blair’s Creek Baptist Church. She cherished her family and friends as they did her, sharing many precious memories together.

She enjoyed being a homemaker, family get-togethers, family vacations, card games and watching movies and tv. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Nila Wright Whitaker.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Eddie Ray Hurst

Daughters: Stephanie Michelle Powell and Monica Rae (Roger) Poore all of Tazewell, Tn.

Grandchildren: Jackson Taylor Hoskins, Alvie Ray Poore and Chandler Holstrup

Sisters: Mary Ann (Doc) Brooks of Ewing, Va., Lou (Don) Lambert of Tazewell, Tn.,Zona Rowland of Tazewell, Tn. ,Jane (James “Mack" Johnston of Tazewell, Tn.,

Brothers: Joe (Betty) Whitaker and Sam (Wanda) Whitaker all of Tazewell, TN.

Brothers-in-law: Jackie (Linda) Hurst of Harrogate, Tn and Ronnie (Debbie) Hurst of Tazewell, TN.

And a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to her extended illness and expenses thereof, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Coffey Funeral Home for funeral expenses.

Family will receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell, TN with funeral service to follow at 4:00PM with Rev. Travis Chumley and Rev. Gary Cunningham officiating. Singers: Barbara and Clint Hatfield and Aaron Cupp. Burial in the Cave Springs Cemetery with Jeff Snodgrass, Doug Lambert, Joey Whitaker, Eddie Rowland, Blake Whitaker and James Johnston serving as pallbearers.
