Deloris was proceeded in death by husband William Clay Cooke; parents Earl and Mabel Starett Bryant; sisters Nora St. Clair, Reba Bryant, and Doris Marie; and brothers Harold Bryant (Lois), Roger Bryant (Sally) and Richard Bryant (Faye); and infant children Dreama Sue Cooke and Whitney Bryant Cooke.
She is survived by son William Andrew Cooke (Kay) and daughter Cynthia Cooke Whitt, London, KY; granddaughter Dr. Allison Cooke Barton (Trevor) and great grandsons Shepherd Barton and Greyson Barton; grandson Dr. William Brian Cooke (Brittany) and great granddaughters Meela Cooke and Harper Cooke, London, KY; sisters Rita Crowder, King, NC, and Sylvia Bryant, Richlands, VA; brothers Earl Lane Bryant (Scarlett), Grey, TN, and Anthony Bryant (Peggy), Raysal, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deloris was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother known as Gran Gran to her great grandchildren. Her family remembers her love of vegetable gardening and growing flowers and also her keen intellect, her strength through Christ, how she loved to read and how she maintained an air of class in all situations. She cherished her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and their spouses, and her great grandchildren. Deloris taught the Bible for many years and was a wonderful witness for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends and a listening heart for many.
Rev. Trevor Barton will preside at the funeral. Vocalists will be Zech Siler and Sara Bayliss from The Creek Church in London, KY.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Gary McCann, Dr. Marty Cosby, nephews Aaron Bryant and Heath Johnson, Dr. Brian Cooke, and Rev. Dr. Frank Woodward.
Much appreciation is given to the administration, staff and CNAs of The Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Corbin, KY, who took excellent care of Deloris during her final days. They showed such love and compassion to her and her family
The family is beyond thankful.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 5 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate, TN. The funeral will follow at 7 pm. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 6 at the Mausoleum in Green Hills Cemetery, Middlesboro, KY.
