Mimi Sunn of New Rochelle passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012. She was 89 years old. Mimi was born on June 16, 1922 in Tientsin, China. Mimi was the granddaughter of Tong Shao-yi, the first Prime Minister of China and Chang Yin-tang, a former ambassador to the United States. She was the beloved daughter of Dr. Kung-hui Henry Chang and Isabel Tong Chang. Her father served as Consul General in San Francisco and New York, and was the Minister to Chile and Portugal, during which time he headed up the Chinese delegation to the United Nations, and represented China at the Paris Peace Talks. Mimi was the devoted wife of the late Pao-Ching Sunn who passed away in March of 2000. She was a graduate of Fu Jen Catholic University in Peking and worked for many years in the United Nations. She was predeceased by 1 brother and 5 sisters and is survived by her sister Mariquita Allen Brunn of New Rochelle. Mimi was the loving mother of Dyane Waldron and Didi McCormick of Rye New York , Michael and Denise both of New Rochelle New York and 6 grandchildren. A private family service and interment is being held today. In Lieu of flowers contributions would be appreciated in her memory to the Westchester ARC, 265 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
