Roy W. Tate, Lt Colonel, USAF (Ret), age 93, New Port Richey, died in his residence on September 4th, 2016. Born in Marion, NC, he came to New Port Richey in 1975 after serving in the Air Force for 32 years. He was a member of the Air Force Association, a life member of the Military Officers Association and its local Suncoast chapter, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, the Caterpillar Club, and the Gulf Harbors Civic Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Addie Quinn Tate and Murray Tate, Sr., both of North Carolina; his first wife Helen, of New Jersey; his second wife Margie, of Indiana; his brothers Locke C. Tate and Murray Tate, Jr., and his sisters Mary Tate Greene and Stella Tate Monroe, all of North Carolina.
Tate is survived by his daughter Janet Tate Gandy, St. Charles IL; son Roy, Jr., Grandy, NC; brother John Tate, Newton, NC; 4 grand-children and 9 great grand-children.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery where he will join his first wife, Helen.
