Kathleen (Kathy) Curran passed away peacefully September 9, 2017 surrounded by family. She fought a long, hard battle against Multiple Sclerosis with utmost strength, courage, dignity, and live-in-the moment attitude. Kathy was born March 17, 1949 in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late John and Doris Farnham. Kathy graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in Standish, Maine in 1967. She then went on to have a career as an administrative assistant for various companies in Massachusetts, Maine, and Florida. She also spent several years providing day care services for many neighborhood families, which allowed her to be home when her children when they were not yet school age. Kathy married David Curran on October 11, 1969. They lived in Wakefield, Massachusetts until 1972 when they moved to Hollis, Maine where they lived until 1989 when they moved to Port Richey, Florida. During the years she lived in Maine, Kathy volunteered for many organizations including the Buxton/Hollis Lioness Club, People Who Care Substance Abuse Prevention Group, the committee to start football at Bonny Eagle, and the Hollis Parks and Recreation Commission. When not volunteering, Kathy loved spending time playing bingo, bowling in a league, boating, and most importantly spending time with her friends and family. One example of this was the annual neighborhood Christmas Eve gatherings that will long be remembered by all who ever attended. When her first born grandson began playing football for the New Port Richey PAL League, she vowed to attend every game which she did for the whole ten years he played. Kathy is survived by her husband David Curran, her daughter Amy Curran, her son Christopher Curran, April Gilbreath and their three children Taylor, Kieran, and Declan. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Smith, three sister in- laws Maureen Curran, Martha Bedell, and the late Donna Curran; one brother in-law Stephen Curran; four nieces Debbie, Heather, Sarah, and Mindy; four nephews Kenny, Michael, Timmy, and Joshua as well as five great nieces and one great nephew. The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Regional Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided to Kathy the last year and a half of her life. A celebration of her life will be held November 4, 2017. If desired, donations can be made in her name to the MS society (nationalmssociety.org) or the Pace Center for Girls, Hernando County, opening January 2018 (pacecenter.org).
