Charlie leaves behind his beautiful wife Amy. He leaves a son; Charles Russo, Jr., two sisters; Jean and Rose, one brother; Joseph and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind, Amy's daughter Vida and son-in-law Mitch.
Charlie served in the US Army Air Borne 511th Parachute Infantry Division during the Korean War. While in the Parachute Infantry, Charlie would get sick every time he jumped but he loved jumping so much that it did not matter to him. His last jump was on his 80th burthday. Charlie was very proud of his heritage, his country, and the time served in the Army Air Borne Division.
Charlie spent a lot of his time as a volunteer, more than most. The hours he spent serving his community gave him great pleasure. He spent most of his time at Hudson Hospice. He spent over 1000 hours of volunteering. Charlie retired from Verizon, and was a member of the Italian American Civic Club in Hudson and volunteered many hours there where he will be greatly missed.
Charlie was an amazing husband, fatrher and friend, who touched the lives of every person who knew him.
A celebration of his life with a Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 8014 State Rd 52, Hudson, FL 34667, will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 10 AM. Inurn will take place on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 11:00 AM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
