William "Bill" Stafford Jay

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Beverly Forbes Jay; parents, John Asbury and Dorothy Cartwright Mandot Jay; and daughter, Amy Celeste Jay.

William is survived by son, Brian Forbes Jay; daughter, Alison Jay LaBauve (Jeff); beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Zachary, Alex, and Leah LaBauve; and siblings, John Ivy Jay and Dorothy Celeste Jay Tsuji (Charlie).

Bill attended Alcee Fortier High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served his time on the USS Trigger. He went on to graduate from LSUNO with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He enjoyed a long career as an electrical engineer, ultimately retiring from Entergy.

Bill was a man of few words but his witty and laid back personality won the hearts of many. He enjoyed drinking a nice cold beer with family and friends especially fellow members of STEAM and Entergy Retires.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Service at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers please, send contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2605 River Rd New Orleans, LA 70121.
